Releasing a full-length album before it was too late
Sometime last fall, deep in the weeds on what would eventually become the BLUE HORIZON album, it hit me… My 50th birthday was just months away. Why was this project still not done?!
Even with 30+ years of musical experience under my belt (see photos), one major milestone was still elusive: releasing a full-length album of original songs.
Now the clock was ticking. This album had to get finished and released while I was still in my 40s! There was a lot to tackle—even after working on the material ad nauseam for two years—but that was the spark I needed to buckle down and finally get it done.
Age is just a number but still… Here it is, one last day in my 40s, and I can say, “I released a full-length album of original music!” Down to the wire, but who’s counting?
(Side note: The creative process can be so strange, especially with music. You spend endless hours dreaming it up, tinkering around, trying to get it to a finished state that you yourself like. Then the inevitable question comes: Is this really good enough to put out there? Even if you’re not 100% convinced, sometimes you just have to “Take A Dive” because there’s “Not Enough Time.”)
Check out BLUE HORIZON now! As always, thanks for listening!
